Frank Henry Auerswald

Frank Henry Auerswald Sr. 89yrs old passed away on February 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
 
Born on June 6, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frank was the son of Frank and Adel Auerswald. He spent much of his life dedicated to hard work, family, and the simple joys that brought him peace.
 
Frank was the devoted husband of the late Judi (Strautmann) Auerswald, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage while raising their three children in New Jersey. After Judi’s passing, Frank was blessed to find love again with Dottie (Fusch) Auerswald with whom he shared eight joyful years.
 
He is preceded in death by his beloved children Donna Auerswald and Frank H. Auerswald Jr, his brother Thomas Auerswald, as well as his godson Timothy Casey.
 
Frank spent most of his career working at the port of Philadelphia as a tugboat captain, a role that suited his steady nature and love of the water. He was an active member of the Men’s Club at MHR Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking—pastimes that reflected his appreciation for the outdoors and life’s simple pleasures.
 
In 1997, Frank retired to Nevada, where he and Judi discovered a shared passion for rocks and gemstones. Together they learned to find, cut, polish, and craft stones into beautiful jewelry. Frank became president of the Las Vegas Rock and Gem Club and later served as president of his condominium community. His enthusiasm for rocks continued when he met Dottie, who happily joined him in the hobby that brought them countless hours of joy, companionship, and opportunities to share life stories.
 
In 2021, Frank moved to San Antonio to live with his daughter Jude Ann and her family, where he spent his final years surrounded by love.
 
Frank is survived by his daughter Jude Ann Prior (Auerswald) and her husband Raymond Prior, grandchildren Erik Prior (Demia), Katherine Prior (Joseph), Luke Prior, and Anna Townsend-Ho (Francesco), and his loving stepchildren Eric Fusch (Trish), Chris Fusch (Tracy), Maryellen Fusch-Sanchez (Kirt), and JJ Fusch-Kashnow (Dave). He is also survived by his brother John Auerswald(Nancy), many nieces and nephews, and the extended Fusch family, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
 
Frank will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, his craftsmanship, and the deep love he carried for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

March 16, 2026. At 10am.
