Fred Calzacorta, at the age of 91, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Arizona surrounded by family. Fred was born on May 10, 1934, in Jordan Valley, Oregon and lived a beautiful Basque life defined by integrity, hard work and humor. As a youth, Fred worked the family ranch in Rome, Oregon, graduated high school and became a paratrooper in the United States Army stationed at Fort Bragg from 1954-56. After the military Fred returned home and went to work for the next 38 years for the Idaho Power Company. Early in his career, Fred survived a fall from a collapsing 100-foot electrical tower. During his recuperation period he met his future wife, Mary Montgomery. They married on January 10, 1959. In 1964, Fred and Mary relocated with Idaho Power to McCall, Idaho and raised their three children Tony, Julie and Chris.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Mary Calzacorta, son Tony Calzacorta (Jane), daughters Julie Woods (Rollin) and Chris Schwind (Bill). Fred is also the adored "Grandpa" to six wonderful Grandchildren -Kirk, Nikki, Jeremy, Jessica, Brian and Matt along with thirteen Great-Grandchildren.
Fred will always be remembered for his unwavering devotion and a pillar of the family - one who was always there when needed, displaying rock solid integrity and earning everyone's respect and trust. Fred Calzacorta enjoyed a well-lived life, he was cherished by all who knew him, his light and love will be deeply missed. He remains in our hearts forever and although he is gone, he will never be forgotten - rest in peace.
Services will be planned to occur in Idaho at a later date.
