Celebrating the Life of Fred Eugene Leamer

Fred Eugene Leamer, 96, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and with his devoted wife, Pam, by his side.

Born on January 3, 1930 in Longview, WA to Eugene and Lois Leamer, Fred lived through the Great Depression. This shaped the man he became: hardworking, humble, grateful and determined to provide well for his family.

Fred began his career in Bellingham, WA at Bloedel-Donovan Lumber Mill before moving on to AMFAB, where he quickly advanced into management. He later became a successful salesman for U.S. Steel and then Wire Rope Industries. Fred traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska for many years, selling steel strapping and wire rope to logging companies. What he loved most wasn’t just making a sale; it was the people. He took great pride in building relationships and especially valued the many long-time customers who became lifelong friends.

He experienced enduring love throughout his long life. Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Bea (Nelson/Leamer) Dearborn, his second wife, Kai (Tazioli) Leamer, and his brother, Bill Leamer. Later, Fred found love again when he met and married Pam. Together they shared 17 wonderful years.

Fred is survived by his wife, Pam; his children, Laurie (Mike) Harris, Rick (Kathy) Leamer and Dawn (Bob) Brown; his stepchildren, Devanie (Matt) Zinn and Brandon Bartlett; his grandchildren, Jason Sands, Bret Sands, Kristen Ceausu, April Johnson, Carly Eyler and Tom Bauer; his step grandchildren, Hannah Helsing, Hailey Helsing, Jayden Bartlett, Jacob Bartlett and Koda Syverson; and six great-grandchildren all of whom brought him immense love, pride and joy.

He loved the simple things in life: a round of golf, a good game on TV, and playing cards with his buddies, especially if he was winning. He enjoyed the competition, but even more, he loved the camaraderie and the laughter that came with it.

What we loved, and will miss most about Fred, was the way his smile and quick wit could light up a room, his steady presence made you feel safe, and his generous heart was simply who he was. To Fred, there were no strangers, only friends he hadn’t met yet. He treated everyone like they truly mattered.

His 96 years were full of wisdom, laughter and love that will live on in all who knew him.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held Sunday, March 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Skagit Golf & Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation https://www.kidney.org/Donate

Gone from our sight, always in our hearts – held forever in God’s loving grace.
