Fredrick Wayne (Fred) Davisson Sr, 86, of Davenport, Florida passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025 at 02:27 a.m. after a long-fought battle with Leukemia at The George C. Forsythe Hospice House Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida.
Fred was born in Lancaster, Ohio to Frederick Dwight Davisson and Ravenelle Moline Turley Davisson on August 8, 1939. His parents preceded him in death along with father-in-law, Patrick Charles Hock; brothers-in-law, Thomas Coady and Daniel Paul Hock; nephews, Kevin Strohl and Christopher Strohl; and the mother of four of Fred's children, Jeanne Patricia Wentz Davisson.
Fred went to High School in Junction City, OH and graduated in 1958. He worked at Quality Bakery in Columbus, OH; Owen's Corning in Newark, OH; Bartlett Collins Glass in Sapulpa, OK, Buckeye Lake Marina in Millersport, OH; and Anchor Hocking Glass in Lancaster, OH. He joined Marzetti Company in Columbus, OH as a Machine Maintenance Manager and retired in 2008.
Fred enjoyed hobbies that spanned creativity and nature, including gardening and electric trains of all sizes. His true passion was woodworking and carpentry. He lovingly created countless wooden toys for his grandchildren and friends, including detailed model trains, planes, boats, golf carts, cars and trucks. He also crafted beautiful wooden furniture. Fred was an avid fisherman, enjoying time on the water with his sons, their friends, and his dedicated fishing buddies, and was an active member of several fishing clubs in Florida. Over the span of his life, Fred also owned an airplane and several boats. He remained a devoted Ohio State fan to the end.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hock Davisson; five children, Cindy Davisson Meyer of Cleveland, OH; Pam Davisson Smith of Creedmoor, NC; Fred Davisson Jr of McConnelsville, OH; Steve (Lori) Davisson of McConnelsville, OH; Larissa Davisson of Davenport, FL and Chuck (Becky) Wolcott of Galena, OH, who was considered a son in every way. He is also survived by his three sisters, Karen Sue Davisson Coady of Bexley, OH; Rosemary (Tom) Davisson Fisher of Somerset, OH and Beverly (Bill) Davisson Patterson of Rushville, OH. He had 10 grandchildren, Megan (Nate) Meyer White of Toledo, OH; Emily (Brian) Meyer Maurer of Olmstead Falls, OH; Gretchen (Xavier) Meyer Shaw of Columbus, OH; Abigail Meyer of Long Island City, NY; Samantha (Michael) Smith Poe of Newton Grove, NC; Holly (Harrison) Smith Reynolds of Creedmoor, NC; Kaylee Davisson of Columbus, OH; Isabella Davisson of Davenport, FL; Henry Frederick Davisson and Karleigh Jeanne Davisson of McConnelsville, OH; mother-in-law, Marilyn B. Hock; brother-in-law, Michael Joseph (Pamela Sue Hedges) Hock; Lawrence P. Hock all of Lancaster, OH and sister-in-law Kathleen Margaret (David) Hock Adkinson of New Bern, NC; nieces and nephews, Franci (Mary Slafkosky) Patterson of Byron Center, MI; Britney (Mike) Patterson Baumhauser of Elyria, OH; Cathy (Tom Spohn) Strohl of Junction City, OH; Amy Fisher of Somerset, OH; Nicholas (Trisha) Hock of Sandy, OR; Krista Hock of Circleville, OH; Matthew Nibert (Aaron Reid) and Christopher (Faith Lynch) Nibert all of Havelock, NC; Katrina (Andrew) Dragoset and Alexandria (Tyler) Hudgins all of New Bern, NC. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren of Ohio and North Carolina.
Caring cremation, provided by Cremation Services of Mid Florida, has taken place and Fred's ashes will be disbursed in Ohio at a later date.
