Gail Hollingsworth Eddy, 86, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Englewood, Florida. Born on May 29, 1939, in Ware, Massachusetts, Gail lived a life full of adventure, love, and generosity that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Gail's early years were shaped by a unique upbringing that saw her living in various parts of the country, including Texas, Illinois, and New York, before she turned 16. These experiences instilled in her a bold and inquisitive spirit that would define her life. In 1957, she met Rolland Eddy in Boston, and the two began a lifelong partnership filled with love and shared adventures. Together they built a family and a home that became a haven not only for their children but for anyone in need.
Gail was the devoted wife of Rolland Eddy and the loving mother of Thomas Eddy (Trina), Lois Durocher, David Eddy (Deborah), Timothy Eddy, and the late Mark Eddy. She was also a cherished sister to Joyce D'Antilio, Brenda Metzner (TC), and Robert Hollingsworth. Preceding her in death were her parents George and Helen Hollingsworth and her sister Lois Hooper.
Her legacy extends to her grandchildren Melissa Randall, Whitney Horton, Mark-Paul Durocher, Danielle Judge, Joelle Crank, Breanna Eddy, Jessica Zott, Ethan Eddy, Jessica & Jonathan; as well as her great-grandchildren Heather, Hunter, James, Gabrielle, and Jacob. Her curiosity extended to learning new crafts or supporting others in their personal growth. If you were pursuing something new or exciting in your life's journey, Gail was there cheering you on—and often joining you.
Her home was always open to those in need. Despite raising five children by 1964 in an already bustling household, Gail welcomed others into her home throughout the decades with warmth and compassion. She had an uncanny ability to sense when someone needed support or encouragement and offered both freely—whether through heartfelt conversations or uplifting pep talks.
Gail's faith played an important role in her life as well; she was very active in the church community. Her positivity and courage inspired everyone around her. Words like bold, mischievous, loving, giving—and so many more—only begin to capture the essence of this remarkable woman who lived life fully on her own terms.
Gail Hollingsworth Eddy will be remembered as someone who embraced life with open arms and an open heart. Her adventurous spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched during her extraordinary journey.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
