In Loving Memory of Gail Edna Munn
(October 2, 1941 - January 7, 2026)
Gail Edna Munn of Highland Beach, Florida passed peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A kind soul with a generous heart, Gail brought warmth, strength, and quiet grace to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in New York City, Gail carried with her a sharp wit, curiosity about the world, and an independent spirit that shaped both her life and career. She was deeply devoted to her family and lovingly remembered those who preceded her in death: her parents, Elsie Georgiana Munn (née Ryan) and William Mitchel Munn; her sister, June Elyse Smith (née Munn); her niece, Shari-Lee Taghvai (née Smith); and her brother, Oliver Burnet Munn, a Korean War veteran, former prisoner of war, and Purple Heart recipient whose courage she greatly admired.
Gail shared a loving partnership with Sherman Richard Neff, whose companionship brought her laughter and steadfast support. She embraced a cherished matriarchal role within her family, maintaining close bonds with Stacey Anne Allen (née Smith) and Stacey's husband George Edward Allen, and delighting in their children Olivia Rose Allen and Winston Daniel Curteza, and Winston's wife Maria Conchita Fernandez-Curteza.
Her love extended warmly to her grand-nieces, great-grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and great-grand-nephews, including Jordan Oliver Taghvai and his wife Denisse Jauregui-Taghvai, and their children Cecilia June Taghvai and Oliver Jude Taghvai; Christiana Paris Taghvai; Justin Andre Taghvai; Sabrina Alyssa Davenport and her children Jaxon Davenport, Karlee Davenport; and Isabel Volosin and Veronica Volosin—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Gail especially loved the final chapter of her life living by the ocean in Florida. She found joy in the rhythm of coastal living—the light, the sea air, and the sense of community that surrounded her. Never one to shy away from friendly competition, she became an enthusiastic and formidable competitive croquet player, approaching the game with strategy, focus, and a spark of humor. She deeply enjoyed spirited political discussions and laughing with her close friends.
Her social life and treasured friendships flourished through her involvement in several beloved clubs. Gail was a proud and active member of The Royal Palm Yacht Club, The Little Club, and the Manalapan Yacht Club, communities that brought her great happiness and connection.
Professionally, Gail was a trailblazer. At a time when few women held executive leadership roles, she helped shape the entertainment licensing industry with intelligence, integrity, and vision. As Director of Licensing at King Features, and later in executive roles at Hanna-Barbera, Marvel Comics, and Filmation, Gail earned deep respect for her expertise and mentorship. She later founded GM Licensing Group, reflecting her entrepreneurial spirit and belief in doing things the right way.
Above all, Gail will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, and generosity of spirit. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the careers she helped build, and her lasting endowments to universities, Licensing International, and specialized trade schools.
A celebration of life will be held at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, Boca Raton, Florida on April 12, 2026.
