Gary Steven Chandler passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 68. Gary was born on July 5, 1957, in Roseville, California to parents Claudette I. Chandler and Tommy J. Chandler. Gary was a beloved son, brother, father, friend, and community member.
Gary shared fond memories of growing up playing little league baseball with his father as a coach. He was proud to follow in his footsteps, spending countless hours as a little league coach himself. Outside of coaching he was a sports fanatic, heavily following the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and any sport his children took part in. In addition to that, he was a gigantic Kyle Busch and Bill Elliot fan and you could always find him watching a NASCAR race, if he wasn’t in attendance.
Gary was a graduate of the 1971 class of Faith Lutheran School and the 1975 class of San Juan High School in Fair Oaks, California.
Throughout his life, Gary was an extremely loving and compassionate person. Family and friends were his world. He created a unique bond with every person he had in his life. He surrounded himself with good hearted people and loved them with acts of kindness. Those who were fortunate to have Gary as a part of their life knew that he was the first to help and the last to judge. He took immense pride in his community and worked tirelessly to make those around him feel supported and loved. He shared a special bond with his mother, Claudette, who he loved dearly.
Gary was a servant of God, dedicating his life to building. In his professional life, Gary was a master carpenter and skilled builder. He achieved much success in the construction industry working his way through the ranks to become a Project Supervisor for the last 20 years of his tenure. He possessed a vast knowledge of construction and was well-known and well-liked in the industry.
Gary is survived by his mother Claudette Chandler, brother Tim Chandler, his three children Brian Thomas Chandler, Alexey Clare (Bennett) Reed, and Luke McCabe Chandler, former significant other Carole Kenney, and niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father Tommy Chandler, sister Sherri Douglas, and former partner Stacey Ann McBride.
Having children was one of the biggest sources of pride and happiness Gary ever had. Our father taught us everything we needed to know and nothing that we did not: dignity, respect, kindness, love and appreciation. He showed us the value of hard work and the power of gratitude. Gary was a compassionate guide who made us people who treasure home and relationships above all.
