Gary Cogil, 80, passed away on October 30, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada. Born on August 23, 1945, in Grand Island, Nebraska, Gary lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and country.
Gary began his professional journey with Keebler in Denver, Colorado, where he worked for an impressive 36 years. As a supervisor, he was known for his commitment and leadership. Notably, Gary achieved the distinction of earning his Golden 90's before the age of 55—a testament to his hard work and dedication. He cherished his time at Keebler and took great pride in his role there.
In addition to his career accomplishments, Gary served his country with honor. He joined the Reserves in 1967 with hopes of avoiding deployment to Vietnam; however, fate had other plans as his unit became the first Reserve unit sent to Vietnam. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Gary embraced his service with pride and wore his Veterans hat often as a symbol of that chapter in his life.
Gary's family was central to his world. He is survived by his loving wife Adrienne Cogil; sons Brian Cogil and Randy Cogil; daughter-in-law Val Cogil; grandsons Donovan and Devin Cogil; stepdaughter Desiree Kelly of Colorado Springs; stepson-in-law Alex Aber; and three step-grandsons Justin Preist, Michael Kelly, and Zander Kelly (also affectionately known as Jr.). Gary also shared a special bond with Crystal, their beloved dog who brought joy to their home.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Lois Cogil and his brother Tom Cogil. Their memories remained close to Gary's heart throughout his life.
Gary will be remembered for many things—his beautiful blue eyes that reflected kindness and warmth, the pride he took in both his professional achievements and military service, and above all else, the love he had for those closest to him. His wife Adrienne misses him deeply, as do all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May Gary's memory bring comfort to those who loved him and serve as a reminder of a life well-lived. A Memorial Gathering will be held on March 21, 2026, from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM at VFW 10217 Quivas St. Celebration of his life.
