Gary Gilbert Lowry passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 76.
Gary was born on November 27, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Gilbert Maupin Lowry and Catherine Josephine Lowry (Moreale). He was the oldest of four children and shared a lifelong bond with his siblings: Dennis Lowry (Dana), Clareen Jones (Tim), and Gilbert Lowry (Sheryl). He also cared deeply for his many nieces and nephews.
Gary married the love of his life, Lyn, in 1971, and they shared many happy years together until her passing in 2017. They spent most of their lives in Independence and Blue Springs, Missouri, where they raised their four children: Lance Lowry (Leah), Joshua Lowry (Jo), Rachel Lowry (Ricky), and Jeremy Lowry.
Gary was a proud grandfather to Wyatt, Ava, Gwendolyn, Noah, Clara, and Lorelei, who brought him tremendous joy. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Grandpapa" and "Papa Daddy," names that meant the world to him.
Later in life, Gary married Trish in 2017, and they shared the years that followed together. During that time, he also grew close to her grandchildren, Lucas and Liam.
Gary never knew a stranger and was known for his easygoing, laid-back nature. In his younger years, he loved adventure and once hopped in a van with friends to travel across the country. As a father, he was deeply devoted to his children. He coached and cheered them on at sporting events, helped wherever he was needed, and even volunteered with the church bus to make sure everyone got where they needed to go.
Gary will be remembered for his warm personality, enthusiastic storytelling, and the way he made people feel welcome wherever he went. Above all, he loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Love you Daddio!
