Gary Glenn Martin, 78, of Granby, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on March 31, 2026.

Gary was born on July 10, 1947 in Richardton, North Dakota, to Fred F. and Eva (Opp) Martin. He grew up on the family farm in Hebron, North Dakota. After graduating from Hebron High School, he served in the Navy. After his military service, he worked at Aetna for 30 years until his retirement in 2004. In 1985, he married Rosemary Dowd, sharing over 40 years together. They raised two children, and became proud grandparents to one granddaughter.

Gary was an avid, life-long motorcyclist, both off-road and on. A member of the CT Ramblers MC, he organized and rode countless New England enduros. He took pride in developing Adventure rides, sharing his knowledge of Connecticut's and Massachusetts' beautiful backroads and trails. He traveled the country throughout his life to dirtbike with many close friends, including trips to Michigan, New Jersey, Arizona, and Utah. His final motorcycle adventure was in July 2024, when he and his wife rode in the Canadian Rockies as part of an organized tour.

Gary had countless other hobbies, including skiing, hiking, biking, and fixing cars. He had a passion for the outdoors, music, technology, and for maintaining a beautiful yard. Gary was always good for a laugh, but also provided a grounded, easy-going and steady presence. He was genuine and authentic; always full of grit and gratitude. His family will always cherish Martin family reunions, ski trips to Vermont, boating on Lake Congamond, beach days at the Cape, and winters in Arizona. Those who knew him remember his keen ability to fix anything, terrific storytelling, clever wit, endlessly adventurous spirit, and calming presence.

Gary is survived by his wife, Rosemary, his children, David and Nicki, son-in-law Mike, and his granddaughter Palmer. He also leaves a brother Harvey, brother-in-law Elmer, several nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorine, Delores, Eleanor, Diana and brother Melvin.

Gary lived a full, adventurous, interesting life. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Celebration of life service will be held at Granby Congregational Church, 219 North Granby Rd., on Saturday May 2nd at 10:00 am.
