Gary Reynolds, a resident of Round Rock, Texas, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on September 1, 1952, in Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Elizabeth McCracken; sister, Sharon Kern; and grandson, Andrew Alduran Young.
Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rose Reynolds and his father, Derwood Reynolds. Children: Toscha Klinksiek, Tiffany Reynolds (fiancé, Darren), and Trent Reynolds (wife, Katy). Gary was a proud and loving Grandpa to Max, Jake, Evie, and Peter Reynolds; Roman Alfred and Adrina Davis; as well as the children of Lyle & Ruby Wells: Liam, Ariel, Levi, and Abigail Wells. He is survived by his siblings: Stan Mills (wife, Mary), Diana Simer, and Larry Mills (wife, Shari). He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Gary, the eldest son, was raised in Austin. He attended Zilker Elementary School and Fulmore Middle School. Gary possessed an unwavering enthusiasm for his pursuits and exhibited entrepreneurial spirit and sound business sense. In the 1970s, he established his own roofing company, Reynolds Roofing, and began operations from an old Volkswagen Beetle with a ladder through its sunroof and a few shingles in the back seat. God's favor guided his business, leading to its growth. As it expanded, Gary gained knowledge of various home styles and demonstrated exceptional ability to meet customer needs. During that era, Gary forged connections and advanced alongside prominent homebuilders in the Austin area. Some years later, he founded another company, BTDT (Been There Done That), which offered home remodeling services to the local community.
In his family life, Gary cherished large gatherings, particularly during holidays with his children and grandchildren. He relished every moment with them, playing and roughhousing and enjoying games around the dining table. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time with his dog, Gypsy, and, when time permitted, watching a western or reading one of his favorite Louis Lamour novels. Gary had a wonderful sense of humor.
Until health challenges prevented him from doing so, Gary enjoyed fishing. He would often take his wife or brothers and other family members with him. And, even frog gigging, once or twice, if he could talk them into it. He was undeterred by snakes or other river creatures, which we all believed lurked there. He was even known to engage in noodling, occasionally.
Gary loved the Lord and spending time reading his Bible. He had a profound impact on others by sharing scriptures and his testimony, drawing family and friends to Christ. "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." ~Romans 10:13
For the past year, Gary struggled with cancer but continued to hope and trust in the Lord. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." ~2 Timothy 4:7
Gary will be deeply missed, but our cherished memories of him will endure.
