Gary Steve Schwartz, 68, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, and our hearts are a little heavier without him. He was someone who made life calmer just by being in the room - steady, kind and always ready with a quiet joke or warm smile.
Gary was born on March 17, 1957, to Georgene and Steve Schwartz. He grew up in Houston as a triplet alongside his two older sisters, forming a close-knit family that remained a source of joy throughout his life.
He married the love of his life, Barbara, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised their beloved daughter, Paige, who was the light of his life.
Gary spent most of his career with Southern Glazer's, where his hard work, humor, and warmth helped him build lifelong friendships that he deeply cherished.
Gary loved to travel, spend time at the lake, play pickleball, and tune into any sports game. Above all, he adored being "Poppy" to his two grandchildren, Charlie and Addison, who brought him endless happiness and pride. Known for his generous spirit and ability to make everyone feel welcome, Gary was a true friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Paige Zay, and her husband, Chip; his grandchildren, Charlie and Addison; his sisters, Nelda Womack, Peggy Sutherland (Barry), and Gail McBride; and numerous extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Georgene and Steve Schwartz, and brother, Glenn Schwartz.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
