Gene R. Baldwin, 84, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, surrounded by his family in his home. Born on May 23, 1941, to Harry and Josephine Baldwin in Chicago, IL. Gene was a person of great integrity, kindness, gentleness, and love. He had the biggest heart and would always take an interest to help others and problem solve any situation to fix others' problems or to lend a hand. His patience was immeasurable and taught so much to those around him. Amidst any situation, he would offer the greatest sense of humor that would always create laughter.
Gene graduated from Drake University College of Pharmacy in 1963 and worked as a pharmacist for many years, but his ingenuity and creativity soon lead him to different paths where his engineering mind could be put to use. He invented many life-saving products that are used in the medical field and developed innovating machines to manufacture these products. Those that knew Gene would not be surprised that he could work as a pharmacist in the morning, work on inventions in the afternoon, rebuild a Holly carburetor in the evening, and continue working on the robot he was building for a blow molding machine and then the next day take an engine out of a car. Gene was one of the most interesting people you could ever talk to, and he was the best husband, father, teacher, and friend that anyone could ever hope to have in their life.
Gene is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marit; his children Monte and Nina; sister Taryn Edwards; a niece; a great niece and great nephew.
