Geneva Pierce Clark, 99, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15th, 2025 at Davis Health and Wellness Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Mrs. Clark was born on February 14th, 1926 in Leland, North Carolina to Joseph Pierce, Sr. and Rowena Troy Pierce. As a child, her parents relocated her and her siblings (Joseph Jr., Hattie, Minnie, and Gladys) to Wilmington, NC. Through her family, Mrs. Clark developed a strong love for God, reading, cooking, playing the piano, singing, and being active in their community. Whether it be through making pecan pies using pecans from the tree in their backyard, playing and singing hymns in the church, and gaining strength from the Bible and African-American writers, Mrs. Clark found joy in everyday wonders that gave her strength lifelong.
Among her many accomplishments, she graduated from North Carolina Central University in 1947 and had been a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority since 1949. After working in Brooklyn, NY as a social worker, she returned to Wilmington, NC where she met Luther S. Clark. They wed on July 16th, 1955. Together, they had two sons: Gary L. Clark and Daryl D. Clark. As a family, they lived for a few years in Japan while Mr. Clark was stationed there with the Marine Corps. Upon returning to Wilmington, Mrs. Clark pursued a career as a biology teacher at John T. Hoggard High School, retiring in the 1980s.
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph W. Pierce, Sr. and Rowena T. Pierce, son Gary L. Clark, siblings: Joseph W. Pierce, Jr., Gladys P. Forney, Hattie Terry and Minnie Page, niece Brenda P. Burns, and special friends Bertha Todd and Addie Dunlap. She leaves to cherish her memory son Daryl D. Clark (Cynthia) of Morrisville, PA, grandsons Anthony N. Clark of Bristol, PA and David D. Clark of Morrisville, PA, and nieces Harriet Johnson and Ladavonda Synese Marbley of Wilmington, NC, and a host of friends and loved ones.

A viewing will take place on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, located at 901 South 5th Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Price Cathedral AME Zion Church, 1201 Orange Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28412.
A repast will be held immediately following the interment at Price Cathedral AME Zion Church.
