With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Gengit Kaur Corder, who was 69 years old.
Gengit was born on March 27, 1956, in Klang, Malaysia to Pak Singh and Kertar Kaur. She was raised in a loving home alongside her four siblings. She bravely left her home of Malaysia to move to Scotland to continue her nursing training in midwifery, and later immigrated to the United States at the age of 30 to begin her nursing career and build a life of opportunity for her future children.
On September 25, 1993, Gengit married Jeffrey Corder in Fort Myers, Florida. Their marriage was built on love, mutual respect, and unwavering partnership. Together they created a warm and devoted family life, facing life’s joys and challenges side by side for more than three decades.
Gengit devoted her nursing career to compassionate care, working in labor and delivery at Lenox Hill Hospital in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and later in endocrinology and hospice care in Florida.
While attending nursing school in Scotland, Gengit felt a profound calling to the Catholic faith. She later completed the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach, where she was baptized on April 7, 2012. A devout Catholic, Gengit found strength, peace, and refuge in her faith. Psalm 91 — her favorite — beautifully reflected her trust in God’s protection and abiding presence. Her surviving family is at peace knowing she has returned to her Father and Jesus Christ.
Above all, Gengit was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She was immensely proud of her two children, Brandon and Nicole. Gengit was a lover of animals, and had an especially close bond with her beloved miniature schnauzer Angel (and her daughter Nicole’s miniature schnauzer Daisy Rey, her “granddaughter”). Among her proudest accomplishments were witnessing her son graduate with his PhD in December 2025, and seeing her daughter get married in May 2023.
Gengit was preceded in death by her parents, Pak Singh and Kertar Kaur; her brother, Harcharan; and her brother-in-law, Joel.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Corder; her children Brandon Corder and Nicole Walsh; her son-in-law Ryan Walsh; her sisters Jiginder and Bilvir; her brother Hari; her sisters-in-law Sally, Dorothy, Stacy, Gretchen, Alison, Katherine and Kiang; her brothers-in-law Terry and Chris; and many cherished nieces and nephews including Sheila, Simren, Shireen, Sharon, Sheree, Jason, and Jenna.
Gengit passed away peacefully and surrounded by family and loved ones on January 5, 2026.
A funeral Mass will be held in her memory at the Catholic Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange, FL on Thursday, January 29th beginning at 11am. We will have a small coffee reception at the Corder residence in Palm Coast at 4pm on the 29th. Please reach out to Brandon Corder or Nicole Walsh for details.
Friends, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to charity in Gengit’s honor - her favorite charities were International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
