George Joel Baker, born January 28, 1952, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Lakeland, FL. Born in Albany, GA, George was the oldest son of William and Mary (Pearce) Baker. He was predeceased by both his parents, brother, John, and his sister, Mary. He grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and graduated from Olney High School before earning his architecture degree from Drexel University.
George worked for several architectural firms, including Martin Architectural Group, where he met his wife, Marianne (DeLuca) Baker. He later founded his own firm, Baker Architects, and spent his career dedicated to thoughtful design and professional excellence.
George resided in Fox Chase and Parkwood prior to retiring in 2025 to Lakeland, FL. He was active in his community and enjoyed spending his time playing and coaching baseball for many years. An avid golfer, he especially cherished the time spent on the course with his sons.
George is survived by his four children, twins Joel Baker and Melissa Baker, and sons William Baker and James Baker; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Baker, wife of Joel; his grandchildren, Charlie , Chandler and Macie; brother William Baker and wife, Vickie Baker; and his aunt, Nancy Dallas and husband Jay Dallas.
