George Michael Bergin, 71, passed away on December 13, 2025, at NCH North Naples Hospital in Florida.
George was born on June 2, 1954, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Nicholas G. Bergin and Mary Harrington Bergin. He grew up in Milton, MA, where he graduated from Milton High School, Class of '72. George was active in sports and played tennis for the high school team. He was also active in town sports, playing fast and slow pitch softball. In addition, he always enjoyed a game of street hockey with his brothers and friends.
George attended UMASS Boston and graduated with a specialty in History. He went on to earn an advanced degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting. His pursuit of educational advancement reflected his dedication to learning and professional growth.
Following college, George built a successful career in business and finance. He worked for several companies during his career, often as accounts payable manager. Notably, George spent many years heading up the accounts payable department at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in the greater Boston area. He eventually retired to Naples, Florida, where he enjoyed the closeness of his Florida family, the friendship of many, and the Florida sun!
George also enjoyed traveling- especially trips to Aruba. In addition, he cherished returning to Boston at least once a year, spending meaningful time with family and old friends. In that way, he maintained strong ties to his roots in Massachusetts. George was also a man of great faith. He often mentioned praying for those who were sick, dying, or simply in need of extra spiritual support.
George was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his siblings,
brother James Bergin of Bonita Springs, Fl, brother Peter Bergin and wife Brenda of Bonita Springs, Fl., sister Ellen Bergin Ahearn and husband Francis Dan of Canton, MA. He is also survived by Niece Jennifer Ahearn of Topsham Maine, Nephew Nicholas Ahearn and wife Sarah, of Milton, MA. as well as his grandnieces Elizabeth and Madison Ahearn.
Burial and service will be held at a later date in Milton MA.
