George Roderick Brown, Jr. of Weston, MA transitioned on March 9, 2026 at the age of 91. George led a full and long life committed to his values of family, friendship and community. George was born on January 1, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Lilly Belle Baspard and George R. Brown, Sr.. Together with his sister, Juanita Brown Rose, he spent his early years in the south. In the 1940's and as part of the Great Migration, George's family moved to Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Roxbury Memorial High School and excelled in track and field, and was quarterback of his high school football team. He was a student apprentice at the Alden Chase Printing Company in downtown Boston which led to an over 50 year career in the printing industry as an Offset Pressman. He married Arnise Burrill Brown in 1956 and had four children, Sharman, Stuart, Scott and Siobhan and raised their family in Roxbury and Dorchester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tennis and was a member of the Franklin Park Tennis Association. George was predeceased by his wife Arnise Patricia Burrill Brown, his parents George R. Brown, Sr. and Lilly Belle Pettigrew, his father Carlos F. Pettigrew, Sr., sister Juanita Brown Rose and brother Donald G. Pettigrew. He is survived by his children Sharman Brown, George Stuart Brown and wife Cynthia Price-Brown, Scott C. Brown and wife Rita Huang, and Siobhan Juanita Brown and husband Stephen Betz; his brother Carlos F. Pettigrew, Jr. and wife Joyce Pettigrew; his grandchildren Aquene Reed, Heather Damon and husband Michael Damon, Michael Taddi, Olivia Brown, Deanna Betz and Spencer Betz; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. He will be dearly missed and his memory will be cherished by so many. Celebration of Life Memorial Service and Repass will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 10:30am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 320 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA.
