2026

George William Campbell, 75, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones.

George was born in London in 1950 to William ‘Bill’ Campbell and Anna Maria ‘Ria’ Rassinger. He is survived by his younger siblings Fred Campbell and Helen Dowse, his children Louise Burnham (Nick), Andrew Campbell (Monse), Sophie Young (Robby) and Lilly Campbell (Macauley), his grandchildren Joe Burnham, Kate Burnham, Robert Young and his life partner Denise Yater and family, the Mattingly’s.

George was born in London but spent his childhood in Kings Worthy, Winchester, Hampshire. He grew up in a post-war era when rationing still existed and the family had to work hard to make ends meet. They grew their own vegetables and the young children spent lots of time outside exploring and making their own entertainment.

George studied as an Engineer Officer at the historic Warsash Maritime School (now part of Solent University in Southampton) and joined the Merchant Navy. This path would one day lead him to owning his own sailing boat and enjoying many adventures around the South Coast of England. After leaving the navy, he worked for Sansui Electricals and later Parker Pens. At this point George was living in Seaford, Sussex. Upon completion of his MBA, George joined Ford Motor Company as Body Shop Engineer Manager at Ford Dagenham. Another move, this time to Kent. George was highly successful in this role and had great respect from people who worked for him. Ford promoted George to Paint Area Manager at Ford Louisville Assembly Plant. After a brief stint with Ford Headquarters in Deaborn George decided to start EPC, an engineering company. George, along with business partner Kevin Herbert, enjoyed 25 years of challenging projects with automotive manufacturers in Canada, Mexico, & US.

George was loved by all who met him. He was a true character and English Gentleman. He loved travel and food and shared these passions with his family. He was a very good home cook and has taught us all the importance of this and how it brings people together. This is where he was happiest, providing and sharing experiences with loved ones. Growing up during difficult times, he showed his love by “giving” – whether that be giving the gift of travel and culture, education or time – he made sure that his kid’s and family felt well taken care of. He tended to our gardens in his spare time and did many home improvement projects for his family. He would relax by reading or watching historical books and documentaries and was particularly interested in the World Wars and had a fantastic knowledge of his own family history. He was an adoptive supporter of Everton Football club and would coincide visits to family in the UK with watching Everton matches and enjoying a pre-match pint or two in the pub. He would always keep an eye on Everton’s woes and triumphs from Louisville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in George’s memory to CurePSP.org. This organization is dedicated to advancing research and providing support for those facing Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a disease George fought with incredible strength. He is an inspiration to us all. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
