George Karidis — A Force of Wit, Will, and Heart

George Karidis, aged 57, finally faced the one challenge even his legendary stubbornness and charm couldn’t outlast. He departed this world on November 8th, 2025, in his home in Southlake, Texas, after a graceful and monumental fight against an unexpected and cruel disease, a battle he waged with style, humor, and sheer willpower.

True to form, he did it in style - traveling the world, throwing more parties than ever, and literally reviving from the dead more times than anyone thought possible. In the face of hardship, George doubled down on living: collecting memories, telling stories, and savoring moments with the people he loved most. Above all, his sons James and Samuel were the center of his universe, his proudest accomplishment, and his greatest joy.

Work was his passion, and he leaves behind a legacy of colleagues and friends, and incredible achievement - from Fidelity to SoftLayer to Packet to Equinix, and everything in between.

George was famously stubborn and had a knack for winning arguments, or at least convincing you he was right (which, let’s be honest, was most of the time). His dry wit and sharp tongue could spark a debate anywhere, but it was all in good fun, because deep down, he just wanted to make sure everyone knew his version of the truth.

He was also dry-witted, formidable, thoughtful, kind, funny, sarcastic, brilliant, dependable, authentic, strong, a graceful fighter, a pain in the ass, a mentor, a guide, a leader, full of laughter, a storyteller, generous, caring, intelligent, loving, considerate, inspiring, stoic, stubborn, and always, always, full of love and humor.

George inspired through leadership and friendship and had the rare gift of making people feel seen, supported, and sometimes just slightly roasted... which somehow made you love him more.

Born in Brockville, Canada, on June 26, 1968, George is survived by his wife Delia Schneider, the unwavering heart of his family and his steadfast support through every twist of life; his beloved sons James and Samuel Karidis-Schneider; his mother Haristoula Karidis; his aunt Penni Gietz; numerous cousins, including his brother-in-spirit James Gietz; and countless lifelong friends. He is also survived by Lina Ehlert, cherished as family in every way that mattered, and “The Goons,” his boys awesome group of friends, all of whom he loved as his own. He was predeceased by his father, Jim Karidis.

A private service will be held in George’s honor, with a Celebration of life to follow, at a later date.

The family deeply appreciates everyone who flew in, called, or stopped by more times than they can count to say goodbye during George’s many comebacks, as well as the family, friends, and medical staff who supported him tirelessly in his quest to live as long as he could.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations supporting veterans and cancer research, including Combined Arms, All Secure Foundation, UT Southwestern Medical Center, or the American Cancer Society.

The family invites you to raise a glass, smoke a cigar, and share a story to celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Heaven just got a lot more interesting.
