George James Kline, 73, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on April 1, 2025, in Palm Springs, California. His love of life, creativity, boundless curiosity, and fierce devotion to those he loved will always be remembered and cherished.
Born in Encino, California, George was raised in the San Fernando Valley and attended private schools throughout his youth, graduating from Chaminade High School. He went on to graduate from what is now California Lutheran University.
George began his career in management at the Broadway Department Stores while attending college, and after graduating, transitioned into a 15-year career in banking. He then combined his business background with his creative passions and undertook a new career in the interior design industry, working with high-profile designers, design firms and showrooms in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. After moving to Palm Springs, he continued working in design for several years, until retiring in 2012.
Following his official retirement, George remained active in the Palm Springs community and began working part-time as the front-of-house "face" and host of several local restaurants, where his charm and welcoming presence were well known.
A naturally creative soul, George always had projects underway—whether watercolor painting, building intricate models, or pursuing his love of baking. He also had a lifelong passion for travel, exploring destinations across the United States and around the world, with various countries in Europe among his favorites. His curiosity, sense of adventure, and love of new experiences enriched both his life and the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his beloved spouse of 35 years, Rick Fraley; a brother, Michael Kline of Seal Beach, California; long-time friend Jacqueline Harrington of Redmond, OR; cousins, Alison Parraco, Adrienne Robinson, and Kathy Petty, all of California; his cherished four-legged companion, Ria, always by his side, as well as many other friends and extended family.
George's warmth, creativity, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him.
