George R. Parsons, 74, of Washington, IL, died peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by loved ones.

George was born at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL on September 30, 1951 to Robert G. and Colette (Durkee) Parsons.

George enlisted in the US Army, serving in Vietnam from 1970-1972. He graduated from SIU and worked for over 30 years as an engineer for ComEd-Exelon. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Washington and in addition to his faith in God, he was grateful for 38 years of sobriety, fellowship and service in the AA community.

He cherished his family and many friendships, covering countless miles to nurture and enjoy these. George loved animals, traveling, riding his Harley, and pickleball. But his greatest joys were being a father and an uncle.

Survivors include his daughters, Laura and Jenna and son, Kevin; his brother, Richard (Jaki) Parsons; his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Nick and Jack.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to the Peoria Area Intergroup Association: https://aapeoria.org/
