George Edward Reynolds, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on November 9, 1947, in Hartford, Connecticut, George grew into a man whose joyfulness was always backed by sincerity and integrity. He married the love of his life, Eldona, on June 27, 1969. Just a few months later, he entered the U.S. Army, in September 1969, and was stationed in Germany, where he and Eldona lived and traveled throughout Europe together. While in Germany, they welcomed their first son, Graham Reynolds.
After his military service, George earned a graduate degree in world history and went on to teach American history at Amity High School for ten years. He was a gifted teacher who brought the past to life and never met an audience that didn't adore him.
After his time at Amity, George transitioned into the corporate world, working first for Aetna and then for Travelers. There he became a well-known and trusted human resources director, widely sought out for his wisdom, ideas, and practical advice. In the later part of his career, he also worked in real estate, bringing the same warmth and integrity to everyone he met.
When George and Eldona retired, they were able to travel the world together, enjoying their daily afternoon break in exotic places around the globe. A particularly special trip was his final journey to Greece with Eldona, Shawn, and Graham to attend the opening of a film featuring Graham's work.
George was deeply proud of his family and delighted in their accomplishments. In his last few years, he spent many hours with his younger son, Keith, singing songs together and enjoying music. He also loved attending Graham's performances, including concerts and ballet productions. George took great joy in watching his sons' music reach audiences around the world.
He was loved by everyone who knew him. Whether in a classroom, a boardroom, on the golf course, or at the family table, he had a way of connecting with people that made them feel seen, heard, and valued.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eldona; his sons, Graham Reynolds and Keith Reynolds; his daughter-in-law Shawn Sides; and many dear friends, colleagues, and extended family who will miss him profoundly.
A Celebration of George Reynolds will be held at 3:30 p.m. on January 18th 2025, at 1403 Walnut Avenue, 78702. Those wishing to honor his memory may make donations to Love Notes or Christopher House Hospice.
