George Hathaway Steele Jr.

George "Skipper" Hathaway Steele Jr., 82, of Venice FL, passed away February 3, 2026. He was born on July 15, 1943 in Lancaster Wisconsin, the son of George Hathaway and Ruth (Friend) Steele. George graduated from Lancaster High School in 1961 and from University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. He worked as a computer scientist for IBM and later as a college professor.
George is survived by his two children Joanne Kirven and Emily Steele, his sisters Ellen McCarville and Tzivia Segal, and by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Ruth Steele.
