George Thomas Sullivan, Jr., age 90, of DeLand, FL and South Yarmouth, MA, passed away peacefully in his home in DeLand on January 4, 2026. He was born in Boston, MA on April 28, 1935 to the late George T. Sullivan and Josephine (Fitzgerald) Sullivan. George had many fond memories of his childhood growing up in the city.

George married the love of his life Caroline (McPeck) Sullivan in 1957. They shared a wonderful life together for 60 years prior to Caroline predeceasing him in 2017.

George was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany in the mid-1950's. Immediately following his honorable discharge, Caroline joined him in Germany where they married. They spent their honeymoon traveling across Europe.

George earned a bachelor's degree in education from Boston University and a master's degree in public administration from Framingham State University.

He had a distinguished career that crossed multiple industries. George started his professional life in the publishing industry, which brought him to Maitland, FL in 1968. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a successful home building business that specialized in custom beachfront homes in New Smyrna Beach, FL. In 1982 George's interest in securities investing prompted him to establish the Winter Park, FL office of N.Y.S.E. member firm Dominick and Dominick where he continued to grow the business until his retirement in 1992.

George began the next chapter of his life and embraced his New England roots when he and Caroline bought a home on Cape Cod where they made many beautiful memories.

Throughout George's life he excelled at many hobbies. He was a lifelong golfer who consistently maintained a single-digit handicap and had seven holes-in-one. George relished his time on the water where he enjoyed racing his sailboat and island hopping on family vacations in the Bahamas. He also developed a passion for offshore fishing in Florida and Cape Cod and spent countless hours on the water with family and friends. In addition, he displayed his adventurous spirit by obtaining his private pilot license.

George had a life well-lived with a wide array of interests and passions, but the core of his happiness revolved around his loving family. George is survived by his children: Leslie Sullivan of Lake Mary, FL, Cynthia Sullivan of Lake Mary, FL, George Sullivan, III (Pamela) of Lake Mary, FL, and Kimberly Winters (David) of Lake Helen, FL. He is survived by his grandchildren: David Winters (Jamie) of Ocala, FL, Caroline Winters Shaw (Stephen) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Katherine Murphy of Washington, DC. He is survived by his great grandchildren: Maddie, Emma, Shelby and Chip. George is survived by his sister Josephine Marie Coffey (Matt) of Duxbury, MA, and was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Carlos.

A celebration of George's life will be held this summer on Cape Cod.
