Gerald Leonard Clark
April 12, 1935 - February 18, 2026
With broken hearts and deep gratitude, we share the passing of Gerald Leonard Clark of Sherman, Texas, who went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 18, 2026, at the age of 90. Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960, and he carried that same sense of honor, steadiness, and quiet strength throughout his life.
God of mercy and peace, we come to You with heavy hearts as we say goodbye to our beloved Gerald. The life he built, the values he passed on and the love he gave will always stay with us.
Gerald was the kind of man whose presence made you feel safe. He lived with grace, humility, and a sincere goodness that was felt the moment you were with him. He didn't need many words to make an impact—his character spoke for him. He taught us how to stay grounded when life feels uncertain, how to hold on to faith and dignity, and how to treat people with kindness and fairness, no matter what the circumstances.
Today there are tears, because we will miss him more than words can explain. We will miss his steady voice, his gentle spirit, and the comfort of simply knowing he was there. And yet, amid grief, there is also rejoicing—because we believe he is now at peace, healed, and whole. Only God can reconcile tears and joy together in the same moment.
Gerald's love and legacy live on through those who cherished him most. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandy, whose devotion and care were a beautiful part of his life's story. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Midkiff; his children Colby Clark (Kim), Sherri Morton, Richard Akins (Ginger), and Natalie Akins, and their families.
Close family members include Ron Armistead, Diane Bell, Michael Armistead, Blossom Cowan, and Wally Armistead, and their respective families. Gerald also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews—each a living reminder of the family he loved so dearly.
He will also be fondly remembered by close friends who held a special place in his life: Stan and Cheryl Brasuell, Barbara Lampert, Harsh and Samishtha Chauhan, John and Cindy Woodruff, and Diane Schalchlin, as well as their respective families. Special thanks to his friends at Drees Custom Homes for their thoughts and prayers.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, James Marshall Clark and Alesca Louise Vandeventer Clark; his brothers Glenn, Theron, and Donald Clark; and his grandsons Matt Clark and Kyle Shugart, as well as longtime friend Bob Lampert.
May God grant Gerald rest from every pain, every worry, and every burden. Let his soul be at peace—surrounded by love and comfort. Amen.
In keeping with Gerald's wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be made to your favorite charity or you help a person in need—an act of kindness that reflects the way he lived and the heart he left with all of us.
