Gerald Nicholas Needleman passed away on March 16, 2026, having lived a full and meaningful life from 1929 to 2026.
Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, Jerry was shaped early on with a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and self-reliance. These qualities carried him through a distinguished career in medicine, where he served both his country and his community. Jerry was a physician in the United States Air Force before going on to become Chair of Radiology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where he was respected for his expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment to patient care.
Jerry was known for his sharp mind and quiet humility. He was incredibly organized, well-informed, and curious about the world. A generous man, he consistently put others first and took great pride in caring for his family.
He also had a lifelong love of sports and was a devoted fan of the Warriors, 49ers, and Giants. A natural athlete himself.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Rayner Needleman; his son, David Needleman; his daughter, Sarah Needleman Alba; and his granddaughters, Sophie and Ella Needleman, and Ashlyn Alba.
He will be remembered as a man of integrity, intellect, and quiet strength, a steady presence who showed up for others without hesitation and lived a life defined by purpose and care. Deeply loved, a good man, who was respected and greatly missed.
