Jerry Shanahan, age 87, of New Berlin, WI, passed away to be with our Lord in Heaven on December 3, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories of love, kindness, and a joyful spirit that touched all who met him.
Services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, New Berlin in the spring, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Visitation at Holy Apostles Welcome Center at 10am, funeral mass at 11am, followed by interment with military honors in the church cemetery.
Born on July 11, 1938, to Harold J. and Laura B. Shanahan, Jerry was deeply connected to the community of Pewaukee, where he valued lifelong friendships within a close-knit community. After graduating from Pewaukee High School in 1956, he enlisted in the United States Navy to honorably serve his country.
In 1958, destiny brought him to a USO dance in New York City, where he met Bobbi—his soulmate and best friend. They married in May 1960, then moved to Wisconsin to be closer to Jerry's family.
He earned a degree in Business Administration and began his career as a Purchasing Agent. In 1973, he purchased a home in New Berlin and accepted a position with Zerand Corporation. He established numerous long-lasting friendships during his career and retired from the company in 2003.
Jerry's spirit was fueled by a passion for sports. For 55 years, he and Bobbi held season tickets to Marquette University basketball, their shared excitement a testament to their deep bond. He and Bobbi attended several years of March Madness tournaments in NYC, and Brewers spring training events in Phoenix, AZ. An avid golfer, he swung passionately into his 80s. He also enjoyed coaching his son's teams.
Jerry and Bobbi were parishioners at Holy Apostles for over 50 years. For 30 of those years, he joyfully served as an Usher. His dedication to others extended to involvement in his high school reunions, always bringing classmates together with warmth and friendship.
Throughout his life, Jerry was a source of positivity and joy. He made friends easily and brought a smile to everyone he met, always sharing kindness and good humor. As a loving son, spouse, dad, grandpa, and loyal friend, Jerry's warmth and spirit will always hold a special place in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Bobbi; son Brian; his parents; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Wally Morris; and cherished dogs. He is survived by 3 daughters, 3 sons-in-law, and his extraordinary grandchildren—whose lives he brightened every day with his love.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Holy Apostles Catholic Church, per Jerry's wishes.
