Geraldine “Geri” Rimes Dunham, 86, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 9, 2026, at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda.
Geri was born on December 8, 1939, in Wauchula, Florida, to the late James and Dorothy Rimes. A woman of strong faith, she loved Jesus and was a devoted Christ-follower, quietly reflecting her beliefs through kindness, perseverance, and love for others.
She was a hardworking and dedicated employee, retiring after 27 years of service with the Lee County Tax Collector’s Office. Outside of work, Geri found joy in simple, beautiful things, especially gardening. She found great joy in gardening and loved to plant, nurture, and watch things grow, a reflection of the care she gave to her family throughout her life. Geri had a gentle spirit and was known by all who met her as a kind, sweet, and loving woman.
Above all else, Geri loved her family. She was a beloved mom, nana, great-nana, sister, aunt and friend whose heart was always open. Her strength, work ethic, and unwavering love leave a lasting legacy in the lives of those she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Anthony Dunham; her sons, Douglas James and Harold Drake Doty Jr.; her brother, Columbus James “Jimmy” Rimes; her sisters, Wanda Faye Parker and Opal Lee Carter; and parents James and Dorothy Rimes.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Dodson of Raleigh, North Carolina; four granddaughters of Cape Coral: Tiffany Migueltorena (Cesar) and their children Alyssa and Xaiden, Courtney Doty and her daughter Armani, Lacey Doty and her children Kyla and Emmitt, and Lindsey Doty and her children Noah and Hailey; three grandsons: Jordan Dodson (Hannah) and their children Emma and Riley of Durham, North Carolina, Dylan Dodson (Christina) and their children Finley and Roman of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Logan Dodson of Los Angeles, California; and her sisters, Patricia Webb (Wayne) of Crystal River and Kay Chapman of Lakeport.
Geri will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. We rejoice in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, rejoicing in the presence of Christ, her Lord.
