Rest in Peace
Gerri Lynn Golik-Dorscher
6/14/1957 - 11/14/2025
It is with great sadness that our family must announce that Gerri L. Golik-Dorscher "GG" passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Spokane, WA on November 14th, 2025, from a heart condition. She was 68 years of age. In June of 1957, Gerri was born in Tucson AZ, to her lovely parents Gail and Barbara Golik. She was the first of four children, including Brian, Brad and Brett Golik. Being a military family, they traveled a lot in Gerri's childhood. One of Gerri's favorite duty-stations was Okinawa, for its beauty. In 1971, the family moved to Spokane, WA where Gerri graduated from North Central High School in 1975. She was intelligent, dedicated, goal-driven and hardworking, which led her to purchase her own (and her future family's) home in 1978, at the young age of 21! She began her career by working at Fred Meyers, then Arby's (for nearly 10 years), then moved into bartending where she made many friends and met the love of her life, Brad Dorscher in 1988. They married in 1990. Gerri gave birth to their daughter, Adre'a, in 1991. She became a Homemaker after Adre'a was born but she still contributed financially through her very gifted arts & crafts and hobbies. When Adre'a was old enough, Gerri worked as a "In-home" caregiver and then as a retail associate during Adre'a's young teenage years. She retired from outside employment in 2006 but continued her passions with Arts & Crafts and caring for her family.
Gerri was incredibly talented, creative, and passionate with Arts & Crafts. She shared her creations throughout the years with family, friends and the community. She enjoyed visiting and participating in small-town craft fairs. Gerri was always very dedicated to expanding her education, to include gardening, cooking, learning another language, caring for her family, thrifting, collecting, and so much more! Gerri had an incredible love for animals. Her "quiet" dream was to become a veterinarian. Her empathy for those same creatures prevented her from pursuing it. Instead, she cared for all the stray animals around the neighborhood through the years which included cats, dogs, birds, raccoons, rabbits, and yes ...skunks! In her youth, Gerri had a horse named Lightning, with whom she was very connected, but she was especially fond of hummingbirds for their spiritual symbolism. Gerri was a giver! She could sense when someone had a need and would go out of her way to help, whether it be a neighbor or a stranger. She donated to those in need as well as to several worthy charities.
Gerri was a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful soul. She is incredibly missed by many and will never be forgotten! Her spirit continues to live through us and amongst us, forever!
Gerri is survived by her husband, Bradford Dorscher; her daughter, Adrea Kearnes (Andrew); her grandson, Adin Dorscher; her granddaughter, Aleea Kearnes; her grandson, Ashton Kearnes; her father, Gail Golik of Florence, AZ; her three brothers, Brian Golik (Kim) of Surprise, AZ; Brad Golik (Deb) of Beaverton, OR; and Brett Golik of San Diego, CA
Gerri is predeceased by her mother, Barbara A Golik.
Gerri did not wish for a public memorial. Her family and close friends will be gathering privately in the spring of 2026 to celebrate her life. The date and location are still to be determined. Invitations will be administered in a timely manner to those who wish to attend.
