Gilbert Joseph Martinez, 86, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Superior, Arizona. Born on March 12, 1939, in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico, Gilbert lived a life rooted in devotion to family, hard work, and faith.

He moved to Superior at a young age and graduated from Superior High School. Shortly thereafter, he began a long and dedicated career with Magma Copper Company, where he worked for 35+ years. His commitment to his work reflected the same steadfastness he brought to every aspect of his life.

Gilbert was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life and provided strength and comfort to him and those around him.

Above all else, Gilbert cherished time spent with his family. He was a warm, kind, and loving husband, brother, father, Tata, and uncle whose presence brought joy and unity to countless gatherings. His legacy lives on through his beloved wife Clara; sons William and Andrew (Tammy) Martinez; grandchildren David (Linda) Martinez, Amanda (Victor) Alcantara, Brandy Martinez, Andrea Martinez, Roman (Maddison) Martinez, Jacob (Emma) Martinez, James Martinez, and Joshua Martinez; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his brother Arnold (Margaret) Martinez.

Gilbert now joins in eternal rest with his parents Lorenzo C. Martinez and Maria Jesus Martinez; daughter Gloria Martinez; and siblings Nellie Martinez, Berna Saenz, Julia Alvarado, Lorenzo Martinez Jr., Alice Campa, and Nena Arias.

May Gilbert's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire love and togetherness among the generations he leaves behind. A Funeral Mass will be held on January 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 60 Church Avenue, Superior, AZ, 85173. After mass, Gilber's urn will be interred at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens, 3750 US 60, Miami, AZ 85539
