Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Glen Chamberlain, a resident of Dexter, OR, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on October 31, 2025. Born in Renton, Washington, in August 1935, Glen spent his formative years in Olympia until he graduated from high school, then his family moved to Vista, California. Glen's wanderlust and love of discovering new places led him to San Diego where he met his soul mate, Ruth, and where his precious daughter, Cheryl was born. In1962, he moved his family to the Santa Ana/Tustin area, where they lived until moving to Hawaii in 1965 taking along his sister Carol who lived with them until their return to Tustin in 1968. After experiencing the Hawaiian climate, the weather in California became unappealing, so in 1971, Glen moved his family, along with their cat Lottie, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1978, a business opportunity took the family to Ocala, Florida, and after that venture concluded, they moved to West Palm Beach in 1980. They relocated to Royal Palm Beach in 1987 and then to Gulfport, Mississippi, in 1995, where they lived until 1998 before moving to Dexter, Oregon, with their daughter Cheryl, three grandchildren, and their mother Martha, all living together in a four-generation home. Glen chose this location for its convenient access to take his mother to visit relatives in Washington state and his sisters in Reno and Southern California.

Glen's life was marked by compassion and love for children, good choices, smart thinking, near-genius intellect as he did non-stop research and an entrepreneurial drive that led him to establish and operate numerous businesses, including real estate ventures, Computers 4 Rent Stores, a mobile home park, and a restaurant, among others. His dedication to service was evident during his time with the United States Naval Reserves from 1952 to 1960, where he served his country with distinction.

Glen's faith was deeply personal and influential, drawing guidance from mentors like Dr. Schuler and Dr. Peale. He worshipped in his unique way, living by the principle, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Glen lived by God's rules and the Golden Rule, and his word was his bond.

Glen loved his family above all except God. He honored God by honoring his father and mother, taking them on trips in his motor home and treating them to travel and cruises and communicating with them by dictating letters after his loss of vision. One of his greatest joys in life was taking his grandchildren and other youngsters to Disney World and other venues that made them happy. A connoisseur of fine food and wine, Glen found joy in the kitchen, often preparing meals that reflected his love for the culinary arts until he lost his vision in 1995. His hobbies included travel, driving his motor home, making honest money, he regarded money as "God in Action". Glen loved college football and listening to his favorite financial commentators on TV after he lost his vision and could no longer read.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ruth; daughter Cheryl (Michael) Clancey; grandchildren Kelli Stephens, Amanda Ryan, Christopher Ryan, Jason Ryan, and Chris Clancey; great-grandchildren Ella, Ari, and Caleb; and sisters Floy (Manny) Aschemeyer and Carol Demangate, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Chamberlain and U.E. Chamberlain, and brother-in-law Larry Demangate.

In his final act of generosity, Glen donated his brain for research, reflecting his lifelong commitment to forward-thinking and learning. Remarkably, he could solve complex math problems in his head until just two days before his passing which amazed his wonderful caregivers.

Glen's legacy is one of love, service, and an insatiable curiosity about the world, leaving a lasting impact on all those he mentored. As we celebrate the rich, full life Glen lived and the countless ways he touched others' lives, we find comfort in knowing he is now running with new legs and seeing with new eyes. A celebration of his life, complete with military honors, will be arranged at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's, honoring his passion for children's happiness and well-being. Glen's departure from this world leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved him. Now residing with Jesus and forever in our hearts, welcome home, my good and faithful servant.
