Glenn Robert Herbert (64) passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, surrounded by loved ones at his home following an 18-month journey with pancreatic cancer, which he navigated with grit and grace.

Glenn was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Gladys Herbert. His home was filled with joy, marked by a loving relationship with his parents and sister Donna. He spent many evenings playing dominoes with his parents and shared his hobby of playing the saxophone with his mother.

Many of the family's favorite memories were made at Mountain Springs Lake Resort in Reeders, Pennsylvania, where his father tended bar, his mother and sister cleaned cabins, and Glenn explored the grounds, making the resort his own place of adventure.

Glenn developed an early love for animals, caring for a steady mix of pets, from turtles, mice, and rabbits to cats and dogs.

Glenn graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA and received his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in New York. He completed his PhD at The University of Akron in Ohio in industrial psychology. Glenn spent 34 years as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry, at Andersen Consulting, GlaxoSmithKline, and Yoh Consulting.

Glenn's life centered around his family, especially his daughters, Kaitlin and Molly, and his grandson, Cameron. He rarely missed an event, stayed close with regular visits and nightly calls, animatedly sang along to music in the car, and never passed up a chance to share a joke. His grandson Cameron felt his love through tractor rides, walks around the yard, silly games, and daily FaceTimes with his GPa.

Glenn was generous and caring, never meeting an animal or person in need he did not stop to help. A listener first and foremost, Glenn always knew when to offer insightful advice. He was a connoisseur of stand-up comedy, a crisp Diet Coke, and a good burger and fry. Glenn was equally delighted by spending time at the beach, fishing at the lake, or perusing an antique store. He ran his own antique business, which he amusingly named "Dead Folks' Stuff."

He raised his family in Chester County, PA. In 2012, along with his life-partner, Diane, Glenn purchased and restored the Reeders home where he vacationed as a child and would later retire. Glenn loved the land surrounding Mountain Springs Lake, where he delighted in long walks, fishing, and playing cards with his lifelong friends Bryan and Margaret Zukawski.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Herbert, and his cherished, sometimes menacing dog, Sadie. Glenn is survived by a beloved, blended family, to which he was deeply devoted: his daughters, Kaitlin Kernan Herbert (Brendan Gibbs) and Molly Kernan Herbert, who were his two favorite people in the world; his life partner of more than 25 years, Diane Humenik; his grandsons Cameron Charles Gibbs and Otto Arthur Klose, and a future grandchild expected in July 2026, all of whom were the greatest joys of his recent life; his step-children Olivia Kittel (Cooper Klose), Jacob Kittel (Kelly Denton) and Haley Kittel; his sister Donna Irvine (Chris Horn); his nephew Eric Irvine (Cassie Irvine); his niece, Brittany Irvine; his former spouse, co-parent, and friend, Mary Kernan, and Mary's husband, Ken Stanzione, Glenn's friend and honored co-grandfather; his adored dog, Otis.

His hilarious, quick-witted — and sometimes irreverent — sense of humor, his kindness, and his insightful advice are missed already, and will be forever.

A private celebration of life will be held in the Spring. In keeping with Glenn's belief in the power of scientific research, and in honor of his humble and generous spirit, please consider making a donation to The Lustgarten Foundation or PanCAN in lieu of flowers.
