Glenn D. Richardson, 87, of Michigan City, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Trail Creek Place in Michigan City.

A memorial service will be held on February 21 at Root Funeral Home with visitation starting at 9 am CT and services beginning at 11 am. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Potawatomi Country Club at 12 pm.

Glenn was born August 9, 1938 in Tazewell, Tennessee to the late James T. and Ina L. (Mullins) Richardson.

On September 3, 1966 in Monticello, Indiana he married Becky Lynne (Sprunger) who passed away on November 4, 2002. Glenn and Becky met while working at NIPSCO together and formed a loving marriage and family.

Surviving is one daughter, Laurie (James D.) Elwell; two grandsons, Christopher Palm and Zachary (Amber) Palm; one great-grandchild, Penelope Palm; three sisters, Bonnie James, Sue Abegglen, and Stella Craig; one brother, Larry Richardson; special friend, Virginia Pettitt; and unofficial sons, Steve Dick and Doug Stephens; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by two daughters, Diane Palm and Karen Richardson; one sister, Loretta Nowak; and two brothers, Fred and George Richardson.

Glenn was a gas serviceman retiring from NIPSCO after 34 years of service. While at NIPSCO, he also sold and installed Charmglow grills or drove a taxi at night to support his family. After retiring from NIPSCO, he went to work at Marquette High School as their maintenance man.

He was a proud US Navy veteran and was a member of the VFW and Skwiat American Legion Post #451. In the Navy, he learned about machinery operation and repair. To this day he loved trying to fix broken items. He was also a member of the Moose Family Center #980 and Masonic Lodge F&AM in Francesville, Indiana. He enjoyed spending his time at his summer retreat on the Tippecanoe River where you would find him fishing and entertaining family and friends with fish fries and lots of beer. He could always be found fishing there or at his snowbird home in Florida, telling stories, chewing his snuff, and drinking a beer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.Inline image
