Gloria Kay Moretti, 83, passed away on July 24, 2025 in Chico, California. Gloria was the daughter of Victor and Katherine George. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and joined the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority at Central Michigan University from which she graduated. She then moved to California and began a career that spanned over 30 years in the educational system. Her creativity and genuine desire to better every single student who came across her path drew many into her purview and brought high praise from all who met her. She taught mathematics for much of her career, with a few years’ worth of deviation from that discipline to teach special need and neurodivergent students. She was eventually selected as one of the top 10 math teachers in Northern California by the Noyce foundation. This enabled her to stretch herself in helping to create and teach curriculum for math teachers to help teach them how to effectively teach math. She continued this work with San Diego State University and The Mathematics Renaissance group. She ultimately finished her career at Stanford University, teaching and determining the viability of continuation for Stanford students who wanted to become teachers themselves. Gloria was a genuinely kind soul who looked for and encouraged the best in every single person she ever came across. She was passionate about photography, exploring the California coast and the bay area wetlands, travelling, being a doting grandmother, having grand adventures with her closest friends, and the San Francisco Giants. She is survived by her beloved brother, Bill; her devoted son, Ryan; her loving grandson, David; her granddaughter, Ariel; her cherished daughter-in-law, Kristan; the beautiful Hogan family; and the wonderful Tamases family. Commemorations of her life have been privately celebrated by her family and those who were closest to her in both Chico and the Bay Area. If any would like to donate something in her name and memory, they can donate to The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. They give food, clothing, and compassionate love to Ukrainian women who can no longer support nor take care of themselves, and Gloria was passionately devoted to their cause and spiritual wellbeing. Gloria is now with her Savior, but the kindness of her soul continually remains with all who knew and loved her. She is the best of what a person can truly become and share.
