Grace Clements Ganiard, 96, of Powhatan, VA, formerly of LeRoy, NY, received her angel wings on January 1, 2026. Born and raised in Avon, NY, she is preceded in death by her husband Ralph W. Ganiard and her parents Janet and Andrew Clements, Jr. of Avon. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Ganiard McGough (Michael) of Powhatan, son David Ganiard (Karen), step-grandson Drew Hicks of Montpelier, brother Donald Clements of Lima, NY, AFS daughter Eed Cefkin (Jon) of Denver, CO and many nieces and nephews who adored her. A special place is held for lifelong friend Vernice Platt of Geneseo.

Ralph and Grace met at Caledonia Electronics and were married on the 4th of July, 1952. After living in Avon and Geneseo, they settled in Ralph's hometown of LeRoy, to be closer to his office at Lapp Insulator.

Grace was a homemaker early on and family always came first. Every holiday was celebrated. Weekends were family time. She learned to downhill ski in her mid-forties. She was not going to be left behind! She loved to camp with family and friends. Her and Ralph spent vacations camping up and down the East Coast taking in many of the historical sites they both enjoyed. She was also a big Buffalo Bills fan. Later, when her children were older, she was employed by the LeRoy Public School as a cafeteria worker. She loved to be around the kids and could be at home when her own kids got home from school.

She was highly regarded for her sewing and crafting abilities. She made heirloom quilts for both her children. She could make anything she put her mind to. Many a family and friends homes have a piece of Graces handiwork in them.

Not only were her own children important to her but the kids in the LeRoy community as well. She volunteered countless hours and earned many accolades and awards for her volunteer work. She was a member of the Genesee Cooperative Extension and Home Economics for over 25 years. She was a leader to several 4-H clubs over the years, Cub Scout Den Pack leader and a judge at the Genesee County Fair. She also volunteered for AFS, LeRoy Band Boosters and was an active attendee of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, participating on several committees and helping with the bazaar each year.

In 1990, Grace and Ralph retired and moved to Powhatan, VA to be closer to their children. Grace would always make sure that any new friend would learn that LeRoy is where Jello was invented. They frequently returned home to visit family and friends. Grace continued to drive herself for visits to LeRoy well into her eighties.

Grace continued her volunteer work in Powhatan by leading a 4-H Club and volunteering at the local county library. She was a member of a local quilt club, sewing blankets for a NICU unit and overnight bags for mothers at risk.

Grace especially enjoyed attending, into her 90's, the local Powhatan Y senior classes and seeing all of her friends.

A private interment for family will be held at the Amelia Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made in memory to the LeRoy Historical Society, 23 E Main St., LeRoy, NY 14482.
