Gregory Robert Painter, 44, of Milford, DE, passed away on May 1, 2025. Greg was born in Kittanning, PA on April 28, 1981, the youngest son of Robert Painter and Peggy (Moyer) Sneigle. During his teenage years, he moved to Fenelton, PA where he graduated from Butler Senior High School, Class of 1999. Greg was a loving father, skilled craftsman, and loyal friend whose humor touched everyone who knew him.

Greg's greatest joy was his family. His daughters Emily and Cali were the absolute pride of his life, and he would do anything for them. Greg made sure he was there for every milestone, every memory, and every moment that mattered to his daughters. You could find him timing the girls at their swim meets, dancing with them at father-daughter dances, cheering them on at their dance performances, or buying them flowers at their recitals. Greg lived for his daughters and treasured them every single day.

Greg refused to do anything other than keep his chin up through tough times and always dreamed of having a family. He worked hard to create the life he wanted, and that dream became his reality - his beautiful and cherished family, his business, and lasting, loyal friendships.

Growing up, Greg loved playing little league and excelled at all positions, especially pitching and playing 1st base, which earned him a trophy. When he was younger, Greg was the main character in a church skit called "The Littlest Lamb." That little boy who once took the stage would grow up to be the devoted father who never missed his daughters' dance performances, understanding firsthand how much it means to have your family in the audience. As a teenager, Greg enjoyed campfires, skateboarding, and riding mountain bikes with his friends.

Greg believed in the importance of maintaining a positive mental attitude and always looking to the future, not dwelling on past regrets. Lifting weights and working out helped him maintain this mindset from his teenage years into adulthood. Although Greg faced challenges in his life, he never lost sight of the power of a positive attitude, and he never relinquished hope for the future. His family always reminded him, "Do not forget to look up to God”.

Greg’s life was not without struggles, and he faced them with honesty and courage. He took responsibility for his mistakes and never stopped working to be the father, son, brother, and friend he wanted to be. His determination to keep moving forward, even when the path was difficult, inspired those who knew him. The people who knew Greg longest never stopped believing in who he could be, and he fought harder than most people will ever have to fight.

Greg was the owner and founder of Painter Construction, LLC, a home remodeling company. Greg developed his skills and passion for construction while building a Habitat for Humanity home in Milton, DE. It was with that passion for helping those less fortunate in the community where Greg's philosophy really developed and shined – he strived to turn houses into homes, always wanting to leave this place a little better than he found it. His meticulous attention to detail and immense pride in his craftsmanship earned him an excellent reputation throughout the community.

Greg loved adventure and living life to the fullest. He went skydiving once, kayaked regularly with his family, and found peace relaxing on the beaches in Rehoboth and Lewes near his home. He believed in making memories and trying new things, always embracing life with resilience and enthusiasm.

Greg had a gift for making people laugh and his sense of humor was contagious. He loved quoting movies - especially his favorites, Major Payne and Tango & Cash, and his comedic timing could bring laughter to any situation on command. Greg could brighten any room he entered. For anyone who was fortunate enough to have Greg as their friend, his loyalty and sense of humor was something that you could never forget, and it will live on in all of us forever. Greg was a die-hard Steelers fan who made the trip from Delaware to Pittsburgh just to see games with his brother Chris. His taste in music was just as good - the Seattle grunge and alternative rock sound that defined the 90s.

Greg often reminded those he loved to live every day to the fullest because you never know what could happen tomorrow. These weren't just words for Greg – they were a philosophy he lived by. He made the most of every day, building something beautiful, and his life serves as a reminder to all of us to cherish every moment and the people we love.

Greg is survived by his beloved daughters, Emily and Cali, who were the light of his life; his wife, Stacey (Moody) Painter; his mother, Peggy (Moyer) Sneigle, originally from Kittanning, PA, of Moundsville, WV; his brother, Christopher S. Painter of Butler, PA; his daughter Maddie, and his fiancé, Tara; his stepbrother, Michael, and his stepsister, Becky; his step-sisters, Traci Cochran of Sparks, NV, Wendy Musser and her husband James Musser III of Butler, PA, and Melissa Noel and her husband Christopher of Sparks, NV; his uncles, Robert Moyer and Daniel Moyer; his cousins, Billy Painter, Michael Moyer and his wife, Tammi; and Adam Moyer and his wife, Aubrey; his mother-in-law, Carin Coghlan of Richmond, VA; his aunts-in-law, Barbara (Coghlan) Miller and Susan Coghlan; his sister-in-law, Ashley, and her son, Kade; nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly; and his loving companions, Sadie and Bentley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Painter, originally from Kittanning, PA, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, in 2016; his stepfather, Alvin Wise, originally from Butler, PA, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, in 2024; his stepfather, Harry Sneigle; his paternal grandparents, Everett W. and Caroline (Jean) Hughes Painter; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Annabelle (Gray) Moyer; and his uncle, William Painter, and his wife, Barbara.

Greg will be deeply missed by his countless friends from Pennsylvania and Delaware who knew him as loyal, funny, and unforgettable. He was taken from this world far too soon, before anyone was ready to say goodbye. His memory and the number of people in this world that he inspired is more than he could have ever imagined. He will live in the hearts of those who loved him, in the countless homes he helped build and restore, and in the beautiful family he created.
