Hanne Wiedbrecht Morrison, 87, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and formerly of Marion, IN, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, FL, after a short illness.
Hanne was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William F. Morrison of Palm Beach Gardens; two sons, Michael Morrison of Jupiter and Robert (Sandra) Morrison of Columbus, IN; three grandchildren, Alexander (Jessica) Morrison of Heber City, UT, Mack (Niurka) Morrison of DeLand, FL, and Esta Morrison of Itasca, IL; and a great-grandson, Niko of Heber City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Sofia Wiedbrecht, and her brother, Mike Jorgesen.
Hanne was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Copenhagen, Denmark, and emigrated to the United States in 1953. She graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was working as a secretary at Anaconda Wire & Cable in Manhattan when she met her husband-to-be. Bill and Hanne were married in April 1963 and Mike and Bob followed in 1964 and 1966, respectively. In her youth, Hanne was an accomplished dancer, appearing with such performers as Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. She also loved skiing and playing tennis with friends in her spare time. Hanne concentrated on being a dedicated homemaker, raising her boys in Illinois, Indiana and Pennsylvania. Hanne and Bill started coming to Florida, seasonally, in 1989, splitting time with Indiana, and moved to Florida full-time in 2008. She enjoyed playing golf and the company of many friends. One of Hanne’s favorite pastimes was bridge, which she was very good at. And she was never very far from her Kindle and enjoyed reading and sharing what she read with family and friends. Hanne and Bill were formerly members of Ibis Golf and Country Club in West Palm Beach and lived there for many years. They were also members of Tequesta Presbyterian Church in Tequesta, FL, and attended First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach.
Hanne was beloved of her family and friends, who will miss her terribly. Hanne’s loving and generous spirit was treasured by everyone who knew her. Hanne got to share her birthplace, Denmark, with her family on several occasions and those memories are most dear. Among her fellow students at her Copenhagen girlhood school, she was proud to note, was the future Queen of Denmark, Margrethe. She also doted on her grandchildren on their frequent visits to South Florida.
A memorial service will be held in February 2026. Details will be forthcoming. Memorial contributions may be made in Hanne’s name to the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, https://www.jmcfoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate/.
