Harold N Sersland

Harold N. Sersland of Mesquite, NV, passed from this life on February 27, 2026, at 87 years of age. Born in Minneapolis, MN, on December 1, 1938 to Harold K. and Charlotte V. Sersland (nee Ahlquist), Harold grew up in South Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School, where he proudly played hockey for the Teddies. After graduation, he served seven years in the United States Marine Corps, carrying the loyalty and discipline of the Marines throughout his life.

He earned a degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management from the University of Minnesota and went on to a distinguished career as a wildlife biologist and environmental specialist with the Bureau of Reclamation and later the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. Known for his honesty, clarity, and unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility, Harold helped shape early environmental policy within federal water projects.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting with his dogs, skiing, and river running, passions he shared generously with his children and grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife Margaret Cecelia Sersland (nee Muldowney); daughters Kirstin (Matt Estel) and Kindra (David Skluzacek); grandchildren, Annie Beach (Dylan Geary), Ian & Tula Skluzacek, and William & Simon Estel; great-granddaughter, Clara Geary; sister, Carol Sersland (Morrey Nellis); niece Margit Nellis (Morgan Scheper); and honorary daughters Jill, Kelli, and Tonje. He is reunited in heaven with his parents and brother, Kenneth.

A service remembering Harold will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Mesquite Lutheran Church, 450 Turtleback Rd, Mesquite, NV 89027 with a luncheon to follow.
