Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Harry Walwyn, 77, of Novato, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born in San Francisco to Harry and Betsy Walwyn, Harry was a proud member of the San Francisco Police Department for more than three decades.

Harry was most at home in nature. He was happiest sailing, hiking, and traveling to every continent in the world. He moved around a lot in his youth, but attended Lowell High School where he found his true home with the Sea Scouts. Every time he drove by Red Rock Island in the San Francisco Bay, he would proudly say that he was part of the group of enthusiastic young men that planted and watered the trees that dominate the island to this day.

One of his mantras was, “The three best decisions I made in my life were joining the police department, buying a home in Novato, and marrying Rosie.”
He met Rosemarie (Rosie) Lemeni in 1972 and they were married on June 22, 1974. Harry and Rosie raised their two kids, David and Kathryn, in that same home on Eucalyptus Ave. in Novato - the only owners that home has ever known.

Harry retired from the SFPD in 2000 and he lived a whole new life in the 26 years after retirement. He became a tax preparer, lived in Yellowstone for two summers, sailed in the South Pacific and ultimately became an ever-present force in the lives of his five grandchildren: Charlie Fahy, Edward Walwyn, Emma Fahy, Gillian Walwyn, and Jane Fahy.

Harry is survived by his wife, Rosie, son, David (Jen), daughter, Kathryn (David Anderson), and sister, Christine.

He leaves the world a better place for the wisdom, kindness and enthusiasm for life he bestowed upon all he touched.
