Hazel Horowitz, age 97 died on February 13, 2026, in Olmsted Township, OH. Born Dec. 19, 1928, in the Bronx Hazel was an adored wife to Irwin for 44 years, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, mother -in -law and aunt. She was loved for her spirit and energy to go, go, go. Her motto was “take a pill and keep on going.” Hazel lived by her principles of service. In the 1960’s she served as a president of the Malverne, NY chapter of Women’s American ORT and as secretary on its national board. She was an avid golfer and tennis player and skilled bridge player, affectionately known as a “shark”. She was playing until her passing in an all-day game.

Hazel is survived by her daughters, Jane and Ellen (Michael); her grandsons Evan (Jordan) Crows and Jacob (Carey) Crows and her great grandchildren Anabelle, Elise, Mara and Izzy. She was a confidant to many of the people she worked for and remained in touch with several of them long after she retired in her seventies from her career as a bookkeeper.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Women’s American ORT – a national Jewish organization that strengthens the worldwide Jewish community by empowering people to achieve economic self-sufficiency through technological and vocational education. If you have an organization that’s near and dear to you, a donation in her memory is appreciated.
