Helga Frieda Soriano (née Troidl) passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Macon, Georgia, on her 97th birthday. Born on November 29, 1928, in Oberkotzau, Bavaria, Deutschland (Germany), Helga's life was marked by resilience, creativity, and a deep devotion to her family.

Helga grew up in Germany during the turbulent years of World War II. At the age of 24, she made the courageous decision to emigrate alone to Canada in search of new opportunities and a better life. It was there that she met Thomas Soriano of New York City. The two were married in 1955 and soon relocated to New York, where they had their daughter, Barbara. Together, they built a life filled with hard work and shared dreams, living in New York and New Jersey until 1975, before settling in Ft Myers, Florida.

A gifted tailor and seamstress, Helga brought elegance and precision to her craft. She worked for Jacobson's in Naples, Florida, where her skill and dedication earned her admiration from colleagues and clients alike. She later joined Saks Fifth Avenue in Ft Myers, where she continued to refine her artistry until her retirement.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Helga had a passion for creating art, including painting, ceramics, needlework, and knitting. She found great joy in cooking and baking—activities through which she expressed both love and creativity. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of traditional recipes that connected generations.

After Thomas's passing in 2010, Helga moved to Macon to live with her daughter Barbara S. Boyer and son-in-law Wesley J. Boyer. In her later years, surrounded by family, Helga found great comfort and happiness.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Wes; granddaughter Whitney C. Boyer and grandson-in-law Jeremy C. Smith; and great-granddaughter Ophelia S. B. Smith. Her memory is also cherished by those who knew her throughout the many chapters of her remarkable life.

Helga was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Ultsch Troidl and Karl Troidl; her sister, Elsa Troidl Brizolarri; her nephew, Joachim Beierlein; and her beloved husband, Thomas E. Soriano.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Helga's life.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
