Herbert (Herb) C Tays

Herb Tays, passed peacefully on April 11, 2026 at 97 years of age. A Memorial Service celebrating a Christian's life well lived will be held at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 3rd at 2 PM with a reception following. Herb was born February 8, 1929 in Turley, OK. He met Nadean, his wife of 65+ years, when he was a young man in Tulsa. Over the years they resided in OK, TX, Panama, OH, PA, CA and retired to Austin in 1994. Herb was a graduate of Tulsa University and also the Perkins Seminary at SMU. He served in the Army. He was an ordained minister for the first decade of his career. He transitioned to the Life Insurance industry working his way up and retiring as an officer in the company. Herb enjoyed traveling, tinkering with his Model A Ford, wood working and gardening. Herb is survived by his son Mark and partner, Alice (Bruce) Bingham, his daughter Celia & son-in-law Bill Hiebeler, grandchildren Zach & Alana as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family & friends. Herb was preceded in death by his wife Nadean, his parents CC and Oma Tays and his bother Vernon.
