Herbert Morris Jones, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away on January 11, 2026, at his home on 107 Acres Court, surrounded by his daughter, Deborah Brown, and son, Micah Jones. He was born on August 26, 1940, to the late Mary Elizabeth Jones.
Herbert was a beloved member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he was well known for his warm smile and kind spirit. You could often find him washing cars, always with a joke ready to share. If there is anything to take from the life he lived, it is his example of compassion for others.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Jones, and his sister, Geraldine Pennix.
He is survived by seven children: Deborah Brown and Micah Jones of the home; Herbert Jones, Jr., and Michelle Harris of Lynchburg, Virginia; and Angela Jones, Vicki Jones, and Deborah Jones of Washington, DC.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church of South Lynchburg. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing beginning at 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
