Hermann Otto Heinz Eichstadt, 95, of Lincoln, California, passed away with family by his side on December 8, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1930, in Henkendorf, Deutsch Krone (Germany). Hermann grew up during World War II and endured its difficult aftermath—experiences that shaped his resilience, strong work ethic, and deep appreciation for life.
After earning a degree in Civil Engineering, Hermann immigrated to Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 25 with his sweetheart, Anni. They married soon after and shared 63 devoted years of marriage, building a life grounded in love, teamwork, and determination. Together they raised two daughters and, in 1965, relocated to Burlingame, California, where Hermann began a distinguished 31-year career with Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco.
Hermann's work in the mining division and later in airport design took him to six continents and offered extraordinary opportunities to experience the world. The family spent two memorable years living in South Africa, an adventure Hermann cherished deeply. He truly loved his profession and the chance it gave him to travel alongside Anni while contributing to projects that spanned the globe.
A man of remarkable skill and determination, Hermann was always building or fixing something. In his younger years in Germany, he took Anni on countless motorcycle trips. Later, he designed and built a family room and master bedroom addition to their Burlingame home—a two-year project completed with precision and pride. His projects were endless and always carried his hallmark of perfection.
In 2004, Hermann moved to Sun City Lincoln Hills, where he formed lasting friendships and became a valued member of a close-knit community. He was happiest when staying active—helping family, friends, and neighbors with home improvements, traveling whenever possible, playing cards with friends, and regularly visiting the community pool, jacuzzi and gym.
Hermann was known for treating everyone he met with dignity and respect. He is remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, keen intelligence, integrity, and tireless work ethic. He earned the admiration and respect of colleagues, friends, and neighbors alike.
Hermann is survived by his daughters, Rita (Steve) and Cora (Bill); his grandchildren, Nicole, Kyle, and Thomas; and his sister, Brunhilde (Hilbert). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anni Eichstadt, in 2020; his sisters, Elenore (also known as Norchen) and Jutta; and his parents, Hermann and Elisabeth.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
