Hernán Ananías Cordero Sr., lovingly known to many as “Chile,” passed away suddenly on January 5, 2026, at his home in Palmdale, California, with his eldest son by his side. He was 63 years old.

Born on July 29, 1962, in Viña del Mar, Chile, Hernán was the son of the late Herminda and Luis Cordero. He grew up alongside his siblings Monica DoraLisa, Carlos Luis, and Marcela Paz, who survive him today. Hernán carried his Chilean roots and culture with pride throughout his life, a legacy he shared with everyone who knew him.

In 1986, Hernán married Martha Ann Rivera, and together they built a large and loving blended family grounded in resilience and unity. He was the proud father of Denis, Hernán Jr., Eleanor, Carlos, Delvonne, and Amber. He was also a devoted father figure to many others, including Edward (his son-in-law), and a cherished grandfather to Evangeline and Jesus, as well as numerous others who came to see him as family.

Hernán dedicated over 40 years to his craft as a master plasterer. His skilled hands shaped countless family homes, businesses, historic buildings, and even celebrity residences across the United States. Known for his precision and unwavering work ethic, he took immense pride in his work and earned respect from all who witnessed his craftsmanship. His legacy as a mentor and artisan lives on in the countless structures that bear his touch.

Direct and candid by nature, Hernán was unapologetically himself—a quality deeply admired by those who knew him well. He loved deeply and gave generously, expressing his care through provision and presence. Though he sometimes carried pain quietly behind a strong exterior, he chose strength over complaint and showed up wholeheartedly for those he loved.

Hernán’s sharp wit and sense of humor—delivered effortlessly in both English and Spanish—left lasting impressions on everyone he met. His wisdom, honesty, and example of hard work taught many valuable lessons about life. Whether through laughter or quiet acts of kindness, Hernán had a profound impact on those around him.

Hernán will be remembered for his humor, generosity, exceptional craftsmanship, and the deep love he held for his family. He is deeply missed and will be forever loved by all whose lives he touched.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 28, 2026, from 05:00 AM to 09:00 PM at Quartz Hill Mobile Home Park Clubhouse 5711 Columbia Way
