Higinio “Junior” Roman

Higinio Roman, lovingly known as “Junior” to his family and “Gene” to his colleagues, passed away on February 14, 2026, at the age of 74. A resident of Boynton Beach, Florida, he lived a life defined by dedication, achievement, and deep love for his family.

Born on November 22, 1951, in Patillas, Higinio carried the warmth and spirit of his Puerto Rican roots with him throughout his life. He built a remarkable career as an Aerospace and Defense engineer with Pratt & Whitney, where his brilliance, work ethic, and integrity earned him numerous awards and distinguished recognition. He was deeply respected by colleagues and took great pride in contributing to work that had a lasting impact.

Above all, Higinio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He shared 47 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Migdalia Roman — a partnership built on commitment, strength, and deep devotion. He is survived by Migdalia; his daughter, Vivian Fletcher of Wellington, Florida, and her husband, Michael Fletcher; and his son, Jeffrey Roman of Newington, Connecticut, and his wife, Kathryn Roman. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jeffrey Roman, Jr., Leila Roman, and Elyanna Roman, who brought him immeasurable joy.

He is also survived by his siblings, Alfredo Roman, Elizabeth Roman, and Noel Roman, along with numerous members of his extended family who cherished him deeply.

Higinio knew how to balance hard work with a zest for life. He was a great and fun golfer who especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the 19th hole as much as the game itself. A true beach lover, he found peace and happiness along the shores of Captiva Island, where the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun mirrored his own steady and generous spirit.

Those who knew him will remember his intelligence, his humor, his steady guidance, and the pride he took in his family. His legacy lives on not only in his professional accomplishments but in the love he gave so freely and the example he set for all who knew him.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life in the coming months, providing an opportunity for those who knew and loved Higinio to come together, remember his legacy, and honor the joy he brought into so many lives. Additional details will be announced at a later time.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished
