Holly Searles

Holly-Diane Searles (née Gilbert), age 63, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on September 29, 1962, in Willimantic, Connecticut, Holly lived a life marked by devotion to her family, compassion for animals, and a deep commitment to her faith community.

Holly was the beloved wife of Ken Searles and a devoted mother to her daughters Mary Brown and Katherine. She shared a special bond with her son-in-law Dylan and found immense joy in being a grandmother to Josiah, Noah, Lilah, Judah, Zephaniah, Rebekah, and Obadiah. Holly was loved by her father Clifford Gilbert, brothers Cliff and Matt. Her love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life and brought warmth and laughter into their homes.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Kay Maine.

A woman of many passions, Holly found delight in the simple joys of life. She cherished time spent playing with her grandchildren and took great pride in nurturing them with love and care. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was engaged in yarn work or tending to her beloved puppies. A dedicated dog-mom and foster dog-mom, Holly opened her heart and home to countless animals over the years.

Bird watching brought Holly peace and wonder; she often marveled at the beauty of nature from her own backyard. Her gentle spirit extended beyond family and pets—she was a caring friend whose kindness touched many lives.

Holly also found purpose through service at church. Her dedication to helping others within the congregation reflected the strength of her faith and the generosity of her heart.

Her memory will live on through those who knew and loved her—family members who carry forward her legacy of love, friends who were uplifted by her presence, and animals whose lives were made better by her care.

May Holly’s memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 1 pm at Joy Church, 11516 Idlewild Rd, Matthews, NC 28105
