Hope-Maria Jamesy Wilson

1965 - 2025

In Loving Memory of Hope-Maria Jamesy Wilson, age 60, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who entered eternal rest on December 9, 2025. Born on May 20, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, Hope-Maria lived a life defined by faith, courage, service, and unwavering love for her family and community.

A proud United States Army Sergeant and Gulf War Veteran, Hope-Maria served her country honorably during Operation Desert Storm. Her service was marked by distinction and integrity, earning her the Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge (Grenade), and Marksman Marksmanship Badge (Rifle, M-16). Beyond her decorations, she courageously led and supported sexual assault and harassment reform initiatives, contributing to meaningful reform, accountability, and healing for others during her military career.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Hope-Maria lived with purpose and intention. She was a published author recognized by the Library of Congress, a graduate of Sowela Technical College, and earned her Bachelor’s degree from McNeese State University. She believed deeply in service, education, and advocacy, using her voice to create impact far beyond herself.

Hope-Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved children, Douglas P. O’Knightly (Mariska O’Knightly) and Paris Pasos-Whitehead (Cedric M. Whitehead); her cherished grandchildren, Jaylen Pasos, Giselle Whitehead, Cedric P. Whitehead, Aria O’Knightly, Douglas O’Knightly Jr., Athena O’Knightly, and Damien O’Knightly; and her loving sister, Lis-Mary S. Wilson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carmen Pierre Wilson (March 25, 1999), and her treasured granddaughters, London M. Whitehead and Selena M. Whitehead.

To know Hope-Maria was to experience her warmth, humor, and magnetic presence. She believed that laughter was the spice of life, and she shared it freely through her cooking, dancing, humor, and the deep sense of safety and love she gave so effortlessly. She made people feel seen, protected, and cared for simply by being herself.

Her name, Hope, was both her identity and her legacy. She often reminded those she loved that “HOPE means Hold On, Pain Ends.” Even in her passing, she continues to teach strength, endurance, faith, and love.

Hope-Maria Jamesy Wilson leaves behind a legacy that will be felt for generations through the lives she touched, the systems she helped change, and the family she loved fiercely. Her work here mattered. Her love was powerful. Her life was meaningful. Her legacy lives on.
