Howard Edmund Adler, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, in Boca Raton, Florida. Born on April 21, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, Howard lived a remarkable life filled with dedication to his family, career, and community.
Howard began his education at Robert Emmet Elementary School and later attended Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo, Illinois. His time at the academy instilled in him a sense of discipline and service that would guide him throughout his life. Following his education, Howard proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Second Class before receiving an honorable discharge.
After his military service, Howard embarked on a distinguished career as an insurance broker. He co-owned the Sol D. Adler Insurance Agency alongside his late brother Jack Adler. Known for his professionalism and unwavering commitment to his clients, Howard earned numerous accolades within the insurance industry and was widely respected by colleagues and clients alike.
Howard's contributions extended beyond his professional life. He served on the Board of Directors for Capital Bank and Trust of Chicago and was an active member of several organizations that reflected his passions and interests. A long-time member of the United States Handball Association, he enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of the sport. He was also a cherished member of Ravinia Green Country Club in Riverwoods, Illinois, and Deer Creek Country Club in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Howard held his Jewish faith close to his heart and lived by its values throughout his life. His thoughtful nature and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was truly one of a kind—a gentleman in every sense of the word.
Family was at the center of Howard's life. He is survived by his children Aram (Jodi), Julie Adler Mahfood (Kevin), and Joseph Adler (Kathy). As a devoted "Papa," he found immense joy in spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lenore "Lee" Adler; his parents Rose and Sol Adler; his brother Jack Adler; and his daughter Debra Adler.
Howard's legacy is one of kindness, integrity, and love for those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
